The sign...
Signage: Vertical signs
Explanation
Prohibition of overtaking for lorries (R-306)
Sign R-306 indicates a **prohibition of overtaking** for **lorries** whose **maximum authorised mass (MAM) is over 3,500 kg**.
- These lorries **may not overtake any motor vehicle** travelling on the carriageway.
- The prohibition applies **even if the overtaking would not involve invading the opposite lane** (for example, on carriageways with several lanes in the same direction).
The prohibition starts **exactly at the point where the sign is placed** and remains in force **until** a sign appears indicating:
- **“End of prohibition of overtaking for lorries”**, or
- **“End of prohibitions”**.
Until one of these signs is seen, the affected lorries **must maintain their position** without performing any overtaking manoeuvres.
