What does the sign in the image mean?
Signage: Vertical signs
Explanation
Advance signing for a service area on a motorway or dual carriageway
This sign **gives advance notice** of the proximity of an **exit to a service area** on a motorway or dual carriageway.
- In the **upper box** the **distance to the exit** is shown.
- On the **main panel** the **name of the service area** and the **pictograms** of the services available (for example, fuel, restaurant, workshop, etc.) are shown.
- On the **lower sub‑panel** the **distance** and **opening hours** of the **next service area** in the same direction of travel are indicated.
Its function is to **guide the driver with sufficient advance notice** so that they can decide whether to exit at that service area or wait for the next one.
