May a personal mobility vehicle drive on a motorway or dual carriageway within a built-up area?
Traffic rules
Explanation
Prohibition of PMVs on motorways and dual carriageways, even within built-up areas
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**Personal mobility vehicles (PMVs)**, such as **electric scooters**, **may never travel on motorways or dual carriageways**, even when these run **through a city** or an urban area.
A motorway or dual carriageway, whether **inside or outside a built-up area**, is still a **high-speed road**, designed for fast traffic and with **large differences in speed** compared with a PMV. For **road safety** reasons, PMVs are **prohibited from accessing** this type of road in all cases.
