Traffic rules
Explanation
Circulation of electric scooters (PMVs) within built-up areas
**Personal mobility vehicles (PMVs)**, such as electric scooters, **may only circulate within built-up areas** and always on the **carriageway** (the part of the road used by motor vehicles).
This means that:
- **They may not use the pavement (sidewalk)**.
- **They may not use pedestrian areas** (spaces reserved for pedestrians).
In addition, within built-up areas there are **two places where it is forbidden to circulate with a PMV** because they are especially dangerous:
- **Tunnels**, because visibility is poor.
- **Travesías**, which are roads that run through built-up areas, where there are usually **lorries (trucks)** and where traffic moves **at higher speeds**.
In summary:
**PMVs → only on the carriageway, within built-up areas, and never on pavements, pedestrian areas, in tunnels or on travesías.**
