Signage: Vertical signs
Explanation
Trafficability status on a mountain pass or stretch
Sign **S-21** indicates the **trafficability status** (whether traffic can flow normally or not) on a **mountain pass** or on a **mountain road section**.
In the **upper part of the sign**, it specifies **which particular pass or section** it refers to.
It serves to inform the driver whether that section is:
- **Open** to traffic.
- **Restricted** (for example, only with snow chains).
- **Closed** due to snow, ice, or other circumstances.
Its function is to **give advance warning** about the traffic conditions on that pass or mountain section.
